Nursing SupervisorFull-Time | EXEMPTWEEKDAYS | 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.Posted 08/17/2026OPEN UNTIL FILLEDJOB SUMMARYThe Nursing Supervisor is responsible for managing day-to-day patient flow in the medical clinic. This position will be responsible for coordinating activities related to clinical quality improvement, medical home, and care coordination activities.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1. Supervise clinical nursing staff (LPNs and MAs) and other staff as assigned2. Manage day-to-day patient flow within the clinic3. Assign care coordination activities to clinical nursing staff including pre-visit planning and the development of care plans.4. Performs general ambulatory health care to patients, including administration and/or dispensing of prescribed medication and treatments in accordance with clinic policies and procedures.5. Ensure compliance with nursing quality activities6. Provide patient triage in person and on phone7. Support providers in care coordination of select patients and/or select patient groups8. Perform clinical assessments of patients9. Perform patient education, self- management support, pre-visit planning and care plan development10. Coordinate expansion of PCMH throughout the clinic.11. Manage medical equipment to maintain availability to providers as well as cost effectiveness and compliance with Joint Commission.12. Ensure effective communication between patient entry to care and care team (i.e. effective communication and teamwork between front desk/nursing/providers)13. Identify and report clinical, utilization and outcomes issues. Identify workflow issues and recommendations for improvement.14. Lead projects to improve outcomes and quality measures.15. Maintains and implements department and organizational policies and procedures16. Maintains nursing standards, policies and procedures manuals and workflows.17. Manage the medication management standards within IHB to maintain compliance with Joint Commission and MNVFC including sample medications, dispensed medications, onsite administered medications.18. Provide health promotion and disease prevention education to IHB Patients.19. Back-up nursing staff when needed and will work an occasional Tuesday night.20. Other duties as assigned1. Licensure & Education:o Current Registered Nurse (R.N.) license and registration to practice in the State of Minnesota.o Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required; minimum 5 years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting.2. Clinical & Operational Experience:o Experience in clinical operations including workflow management.o Experience leading quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and clinical efficiency.o Knowledge of the Medical Home Model of care preferred.3. Leadership & Supervisory Experience:o Supervisory experience required, including mentoring, training, and evaluating nursing staff.o Experience in community health or underserved populations.4. Professional & Interpersonal Skills:o Strong relationship-building skills with patients, medical staff, and external partners.o Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures effectively.o Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.o Self-motivated with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.5. Compliance & Systems Knowledge:o Familiarity with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control protocols.o Experience working with Accrediting Agencies.o Experience working with electronic health records (EHR) systems, EPIC preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES1. Ability to understand and meet the needs of the patient through respectful, courteous and caring interactions with patients, families and other health professionals.2. Knows, understands and adheres to organizational policy related to the patient's rights for confidential care.3. Knowledge and respect of the American Indian culture and other cultures served by IHB.4. Actively participates and works positively, flexibly and cooperatively in a team effort to accomplish the goals of the Indian Health Board of Minneapolis.5. Manages time effectively and prioritizes task completion to meet deadlines6. Shows initiative and resourcefulness, able to analyze situations and problem solve.7. Excellent written and oral communication skills.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, recurring bending, crouching, and stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; recurring lifting of children, and lifting in excess of 50 pounds. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity. The work environment involves high risks, with exposure to potentially dangerous situations requiring a range of safety and other precautions.
