Responsibilities:

• Transports patients and documents action on patient record. Monitors patients and collects information for documentation in patient record. Collects and records vital signs in patient record. Insures cleanliness of nutrition areas and general unit. Cleans and stores equipment. Empties trash, linen bags and sharps containers. Stocks medical supplies, linens and paper goods. Inventories equipment as required. Processes broken equipment as directed. Maintains equipment logs as required. Delivers specimens to Laboratory, Microbiology and Pathology. Transports x-rays, blood and equipment. Delivers patient food trays and nourishment. Performs basic clerical duties such as answering phones, taking messages, filing and copying. Stamps and assembles patient charts. Posts laboratory and other tests results. Uses the computerized Patient Care Information System (PACIS) at the skill level commensurate with the responsibilities included in this description. Assists with activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing and walking patients. Administers oxygen under the direction of a licensed nurse. *Performs other functions as required.

Qualifications:

• High school or equivalent plus formal specialized, short-term training in basic patient care (CNA, Med. Asst., Military medical training, EMT-B, NA, HHA, Nursing student who has completed a skills lab) or at least 6 months experience in direct patient care required. Receives on-the-job training and successfully completes competency verification to perform primary functions within 6 weeks of date of hire.
• BLS required at time of hire.
