Nature of Work
Under administrative direction, performs complex administrative work at the advanced level, directing nutrition services in a regional public health nutrition program offering a variety of services. Plans, organizes and directs nutrition programs and is responsible for the quality of nutrition services delivered in the assigned area. Work is broad in its scope of responsibility. Performs related work as required.

Key Responsibilities
Program Management & Clinic Operations (20%)
Manage daily operations of the five-county WIC program.
Supervise WIC personnel (9 full-time, 7 part-time).
Coordinate staffing assignments, schedules, and clinic coverage.
Lead hiring, training, orientation, and performance evaluation activities.
Address operational issues and promote effective communication and teamwork.
Fiscal Management & Program Compliance (20%)
Work directly with the fiscal agency to coordinate financial and administrative activities.
Assist with budget development, monitoring, and resource management.
Review expenditures and ensure appropriate use of program funds.
Ensure staff compliance with federal and state WIC rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Monitor program activities and address compliance concerns.
Eligibility, Certification & Reporting (20%)
Evaluate and certify participant eligibility when needed.
Provide guidance to staff on eligibility and certification requirements.
Prepare and submit required reports to the WV WIC State Agency.
Maintain accurate program records and documentation.
Communicate with the State Agency regarding program requirements and activities.
Outreach, Nutrition Education & Community Collaboration (20%)
Coordinate outreach efforts across the five-county region.
Promote awareness and participation in the WIC program.
Support and coordinate nutrition education activities.
Build and maintain partnerships with local health departments, healthcare providers, and community agencies.
Represent the WIC program at community events, meetings, and collaborative initiatives.
Meetings, Training & Special Projects (20%)
Attend state, regional, and local meetings and trainings.
Maintain current knowledge of WIC policies, procedures, and regulations.
Participate in special projects and agency initiatives.
Provide support to staff and program areas as needed.
Perform additional duties as assigned in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and program requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Training: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a bachelors degree in foods and nutrition, dietetics or public health nutrition; or a bachelors degree in a related field with 12 hours in nutrition.
Experience: Four years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid employment as: dietitian or nutritionist employed by a health or welfare agency, food clinic, hospital, child development center, school system or nutrition council; teacher of foods or nutrition in an accredited school or college; agent or food and nutrition specialist in the Agricultural Extension Service; or research worker in foods or nutrition. Two years of qualifying experience must have been in public health nutrition.
Substitution: Graduation from a Coordinated Undergraduate Program in dietetics, completion of an AP4 Program in nutrition or dietetic internship approved by the American Dietetic Association, or a graduate degree from an accredited college or university in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
Note: Preference in hiring may be given to an applicant who has current Registered Dietitian status.
