Summary:
Advocates and provides quality food service to strengthen and enhance the families and individuals served by Family Services, Inc. (FSI). 
 
Essential Functions:
  • Prepare Meals and Deliver them to the classrooms.
  • Assist in maintaining classroom meal counts
  • Make sure all special milk & Water is prepared and in the milk buckets.
  • Assist with Stock. 
  • Restock all classrooms with supplies as needed. 
  • Retrieve Carts. 
  • Assemble condiments. 
  • Empty all bucket and plate buckets.
  • Assist with washing dishes.
  • Wipe off all carts thoroughly.
  • Assist with taking boxes to the dumpsters.
  • Deliver milk buckets.
  • Ensure main classrooms are properly served. 
  • Sweep and mop designated area. 
  • Wash all dish towels and apron. 
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma required or GED equivalency.
  • Valid NC driver's license and ability to travel between various agency sites and community resources.
  • Dedicated to nutrition services; oriented to the concept of the total family.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Articulated ideas clearly (both written and oral), listen accurately and establish personal rapport with people from a variety of backgrounds. 
  • Maintains dignity and self-control in stressful situations. 
  • Objective about personal strengths and limitations. 
  • Proven logical, systematic, integrative, conceptualizing thought process. 
Expected Hours of Work:
Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm 
 
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
  • Maintains physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following: walking, bending, stretching, lifting, standing or sitting for extended periods of time, operating assigned equipment.
  • Mist be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds with the ability to handle heavy pots and industrial kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work flexible /overtime hours, as needed.
  • Requires valid NC driver's license and ability to travel between various agency sites and community resources.

In collaboration with others, the mission of Family Service is to provide quality programs and services, which effectively assist and strengthen individuals and families in our community. Family Service provides more than 5,000,000 meals each year through a USDA food program in 85 Nebraska counties. This program feeds almost 21,000 children in more than 1,312 licensed home child-care facilities. Family Service delivers the Women, Infant and Children (WIC) program to 3,000 people in Lancaster County each month. Services include nutrition and breast feeding education as well as formula, milk and other staples. Family Service cares for more than 1,700 children who take part in our child care and early childhood programs based in 20 Lincoln Public Schools. Family Service counsels families and individuals with behavioral health sessions at 13 specific local schools. Family Service partners with a variety of federal, state, local and non-profit agencies to make available a number of other innovative programs to assist Nebraska families. Family Service Early Childhood and Youth Development programs granted over $694,000 in free and reduced rate scholarships to children during 2011-2012 school year.
