About the Role
The HR Generalist serves as a key operational partner within the HR team, reporting directly to the HR Manager. This role is responsible for executing day-to-day HR functions across a multi-state organization, with a strong focus on employee relations, manager support, and consistent application of HR policies.
The HR Generalist independently manages routine employee relations matters, conducts investigations, and provides guidance to managers, while appropriately escalating complex or high-risk issues. This role also plays a key part in supporting compliance, improving HR processes, and enhancing the overall employee experience.
What You’ll Do
Employee Relations & Manager Support
- Serve as a primary HR contact for employees and managers, providing guidance on employee relations, performance management, and workplace concerns.
- Confidently coach and guide managers through employee relations and performance conversations.
- Independently handle routine employee relations matters with sound judgment
- Conduct routine investigations, including gathering facts, documenting findings, and making recommendations, while escalating complex or high-risk matters appropriately
Compliance & Risk Awareness
- Ensure consistent application of company policies and employment practices
- Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
- Demonstrate strong judgment and risk awareness when addressing employee relations and compliance matters
- Apply a foundational understanding of multi-state employment considerations
Benefits & Leave Support
- Provide guidance on benefits programs and enrollment processes to support employee understanding
- Support leave of absence programs, including FMLA, ADA, and state-specific leaves, escalating complex issues as needed
HR Operations & Process Improvement
- Maintain accurate employee documentation and ensure HRIS data integrity
- Support HR audits and compliance activities
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes across the employee lifecycle and partner with HR leadership to implement scalable solutions
HR Metrics & Reporting
- Track and report on key HR metrics, including turnover, employee relations trends, and case activity to support data-driven decision making
Collaboration
- Partner cross-functionally with recruiting, payroll, and leadership teams
- Collaborate with HR Specialist to support onboarding and offboarding processes
What We’re Looking For
- 4–6 years of HR experience in a generalist or employee relations-focused role
- Proven ability to manage employee relations matters independently
- Experience supporting managers in a fast-paced environment
- Working knowledge of employment law fundamentals
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of discretion and sound judgment
- Experience in multi-site or multi-state environments preferred
Preferred Experience
- Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or long-term care environments
- Familiarity with Paycom HRIS platform
- Experience supporting benefits administration and leave processes
- Exposure to HR metrics, reporting, or process improvement initiatives
