Major/Essential Functions

  • Troubleshoot weather sensors. completing repair when possible, coordinating external repair with supplier when necessary.
  • Maintain laboratory to support instrument repair and calibration.
  • Perform regular instrument calibration, complete battery testing, soil conductivity measurements, and other technical measurement tasks that benefit the West Texas Mesonet.
  • Help develop an inventory and bar code reader system to keep track of sensors, organize storage systems to support station maintenance and installation.
  • Assist with datalogger operating system and program updates and cell modem operating system upgrades.
  • Assist with ordering and receiving of weather station supplies.
  • Assist with field maintenance and installation efforts when needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience leading a calibration laboratory Experience with data loggers, data logger programming, cellular communication systems, and other related technologies Background in weather related technologies (e.g. radar, lidar) Knowledge of weather-related terminology Experience with weather related data product generation.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 1 to 3 years of experience in field-based technical work. Additional experience, instead of education, can be considered on a year-for-year basis.

This position requires eligibility to drive TTU vehicles, including a valid U.S. driver license and two years of driving experience.
