Department & Location: Opportunity Hub, AuCoin Hall Lobby, Forest Grove Campus

Supervisor/Recruiter Name & Email: Rosa Maria Gilbert rosamaria@pacificu.edu

Job Details: Full Academic Year | $16.80/hour 4-6 hours/week |

Work Location: Hybrid (Some digital/remote work with required in-person shifts at the front desk and event coverage)

Love creating content, keeping up with social trends, and helping out around the office? You'll help us get the word out about all the cool stuff happening at the Opportunity Hub-from career fairs and study abroad info to student community projects-while keeping our front desk and daily operations running smoothly!

Purpose of the Position: The Social Media & Digital Communications Specialist engages the Pacific student community by creating dynamic digital content, managing social media channels, and driving awareness for Opportunity Hub programs, events, and campus resources. In addition to digital content creation, this hybrid role supports daily operations by providing welcoming coverage at the front desk, completing administrative office projects, and assisting campus visitors.

What You'll Do

  • Make Fun Social Posts: Create graphics, Reels, and TikToks to promote campus events, deadline reminders, and student resources.
  • Website & Digital Signage: Keep the web pages fresh, update event boards, and format digital newsletters.
  • Plan the Feed: Help organize what we post and when so students actually see what's coming up.
  • Design Flyers & Digital Posters: Use Canva or Adobe to make eye-catching flyers for campus screens, Instagram, and newsletters.
  • Showcase Student Life: Work with other campus groups to highlight real student stories, events, and projects.
  • Front Desk Coverage & Navigation: Provide front desk coverage during assigned shifts, greeting guests, answering basic inquiries, and supporting daily office operations.
  • General Office Support: Jump in on general office projects and administrative tasks during quiet periods or when social media work is slow.
  • Other Duties as Assigned: Assist with additional department tasks and special projects as needed to support the Opportunity Hub team.

What We're Looking For

  • You know your way around Instagram, TikTok, and design tools like Canva or Adobe.

  • You can write clear, catchy captions that sound like a student, not a brochure.

  • You are reliable, communicate well, and are comfortable balancing creative project deadlines with scheduled front desk shifts.

  • Flexible, willing to jump into general office projects when downtime occurs, and eager to help where needed.

  • Must be a currently enrolled Pacific student.

  • Preferred: Prior experience managing social media accounts, working in customer service, or helping out at a front desk.

Competencies You'll Practice

  • Digital Communication & Storytelling: Learn how to craft fun content, write catchy copy, and represent the Opportunity Hub across active social channels.

  • Creative Problem Solving & Design: Level up your design skills using Canva and Adobe to turn campus updates into eye-catching visuals.

  • Time Management & Initiative: Practice balancing self-paced digital projects with scheduled front desk shifts and shifting office needs.

  • Customer Service & Teamwork: Build real-world experience welcoming visitors, answering questions, and helping out the Opportunity Hub team.
