    Job Description

    The Rolling Hills Generating Power Facility, located in Wilkesville, Ohio, is a 1,023-megawatt natural gas-fired power plant that provides reliable peaking generation to the regional electric grid. The facility operates five Siemens 501FD2 simple-cycle combustion turbines, designed for rapid startup and efficient response to fluctuations in power demand. Strategically situated in southern Ohio, Rolling Hills supports grid stability and energy reliability across the region.

    Opportunity Summary

    The O&M / Electrical Technician supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the Rolling Hills Generating Power Facility. This hands-on role operates, monitors, troubleshoots, and maintains Siemens 501FD2 combustion turbines and associated balance-of-plant systems while supporting equipment reliability, plant availability, and compliance with safety and environmental requirements.

    Your scope of responsibility as O&M / Electrical Technician will include the following primary functions:

    • Perform startup, shutdown, and routine operation of Siemens 501FD2 combustion turbines, generators, and balance-of-plant systems, including fuel gas, lube oil, cooling, compressed air, and other auxiliary equipment.
    • Monitor and record plant operating parameters using the DCS, meters, and gauges; conduct routine equipment rounds to identify leaks, abnormal noise or vibration, and other performance deviations.
    • Conduct operating tests, inspections, troubleshooting, and minor mechanical and electrical repairs to support equipment reliability and minimize unplanned outages.
    • Identify and promptly report abnormal operating conditions and take appropriate corrective action within established procedures and operating limits.
    • Prepare equipment for operation and maintenance in accordance with standard operating procedures, Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), and site safety requirements.
    • Maintain accurate operating logs and records documenting equipment status, plant performance, abnormal conditions, and actions taken during the shift.
    • Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities during normal operations, scheduled outages, and forced outages, including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and controls work.
    • Utilize the CMMS to initiate work requests and document maintenance activities, parts used, equipment condition, and required follow-up actions.
    • Diagnose mechanical equipment issues and assist with troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of electrical, instrumentation, PLC, DCS, control circuits, and field control systems.
    • Participate in the development and improvement of operating and preventive maintenance procedures and recommend improvements to enhance plant safety, reliability, and efficiency; provide technical guidance or training to other technicians as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by plant management to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the facility.

    Working Relationships

    The O&M / Electrical Technician reports to the O&M Supervisor and takes general direction from other plant management. Additionally, this position will coordinate with all other plant personnel to ensure safe and reliable plant operations.

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

    Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated platforms and walkways at varying heights, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds.

    Power plant environment that may involve entering confined spaces, crawling through narrow areas, and handling hazardous materials, with exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise. Work may include high heat near equipment and varying outdoor weather conditions.

    Some duties may require the use of protective equipment, which can include hard hats, safety glasses, and eye protection, air masks/respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, flame-resistant clothing (FRC), hot gloves, high-voltage protective gear, and fall protection. Fit testing for respirators may be required. Strict smoking restrictions apply in and around the facility.

    Fitness for Duty

    All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, which includes a post-offer physical examination, drug screening, and post-employment random drug screening.

    Work Schedule

    The O&M / Electrical Technician follows a modified DuPont rotating 12-hour shift schedule, ensuring 24/7 coverage through a structured rotation of day and night shifts that includes built-in rest days. This position will require extended hours, flexible shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call availability as needed to support plant operations and business needs.

    Compensation

    This position offers a base pay rate ranging from $45 to $50 per hour, along with eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

    Core Qualifications and Skills

    • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in Power Plant Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field preferred. Relevant military training, technical certifications, or industry experience may be considered in lieu of post-secondary education.
    • Previous operations and/or maintenance experience in power generation or a similar heavy industrial environment; experience with natural gas-fired combustion turbines and simple-cycle facilities preferred.
    • Working knowledge of combustion turbines, generators, and balance-of-plant equipment, with the mechanical aptitude to operate, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain plant systems.
    • Working knowledge of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, including DCS, PLCs, field instrumentation, and electronic or microprocessor-based controls.
    • Ability to read and interpret operating procedures, technical manuals, P&IDs, blueprints, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.
    • Familiarity with CMMS applications, Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS), and applicable power plant safety and environmental requirements, including Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO).
    • Strong troubleshooting, communication, teamwork, and documentation skills, with the ability to respond effectively to changing plant conditions and priorities.
    • Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license and ensure it remains in good standing at all times.
