Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a full-time or part-time OB/GYN Hospitalist (Laborist), you will join the growing Obstetrics and Gynecology Team at Dignity Health Medical Group - Dominican, taking on a foundational role in coastal Santa Cruz, CA.

You will contribute to improving health outcomes for women and families, with the unique opportunity to define your own work-life balance through a rare level of practice autonomy. Whether you prefer a 100% clinic-based model, an OB Hospitalist/Laborist shift-based schedule, or a traditional Full-Scope OB/GYN practice, you'll find the flexibility to thrive. You will work alongside experienced Certified Nurse Midwives and fellow OB/GYN Physicians, all within a mission-driven organization committed to reproductive justice, and affiliated with Dominican Hospital, a nationally recognized medical center with a modern, well-equipped birthing center, an onsite Level III NICU, approximately 700-800 deliveries annually, 24/7 anesthesia coverage, and a dedicated OB ED.

To be successful in this role, you will be a BC/BE Obstetrics and Gynecology Physician seeking a practice that offers significant autonomy, flexible scheduling, and the opportunity to provide high-quality, compassionate care within a supportive and well-respected hospital environment.

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient obstetric and gynecologic care for unassigned or emergent patients in a hospital setting.
  • Manage labor and delivery, perform surgical procedures including C-sections, and address acute gynecological conditions.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, including midwives, nurses, and anesthesiologists, to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
  • Respond to obstetrical emergencies and consults from the emergency department, providing timely and expert medical intervention.

We are offering:

  • Full-Time Annual Salary: $400,000 - $424,000, DOE
  • Sign-On & Relocation: Comprehensive packages available for full-time physicians

Job Requirements

Required

  • Board-certified or Board-eligible MD or DO in Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • Active or eligible license in the state of California
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to patient-centered care

Preferred

  • Spanish proficiency a plus
