Medical Assistant: Starting Pay Range: $19.10 - $22.47 an hour

Job Summary:
Provide medical case management services to the obstetric and gynecology (OB/Gyn) patients of Pueblo Community Health Center, Inc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure the function and activities of this department to embrace the philosophy, mission, values and Communicate with Heart service model supported by the Board of Directors of Pueblo Community Health Center, Inc.
Adhere to the guidelines and procedures of Pueblo Community Health Center, Inc.
Function as primary obstetric and GYN nurse for routine OB/GYN care and medical screening for Pueblo Community Health Center, Inc.
Medically case manage the OB/GYN patients:
Schedule OB, Gynecology, Colposcopy, Pre and Post-op visits
Provide patient education
Follow up on no shows and labs
Perform triage of OB/GYN phone calls
Assist gynecologist with gynecology procedures and case manage gynecology patients including abnormal PAPs and colposcopy.
Assist in scheduling HROB, case managing HROB visits, and assisting in HROB clinic.
Assist in maintaining linkages with community agencies.
Ensure that all points of contact with the patient are adequately documented in the electronic medical record, including patient phone calls, visits, and contact with other community agencies.
Maintain patient confidentiality.
Provide OB/GYN care appropriate to the age-specific needs of all patients in accordance with the principles of growth and development for infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric life cycles.
Maintain knowledge of current technology related to perinatal/GYN nursing.
Maintain CPR certification.
Adhere to infection control policies and procedures
Maintain and sterilize instruments for OB/GYN procedures including upkeep of the autoclave. Maintain log and Duo-record every time autoclave is used. Perform periodic cleaning and spore testing.
Perform routine point of care testing in the lab and assist in keeping urine lab clean and orderly.
Maintain inventory of exam room supplies, stock and order supplies as needed.
Perform daily cleaning of lab and exam rooms used.
Adhere to policies and procedures in the laboratory manual.
Participate in the peer review process in the department.
Administer immunizations and medications.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
