Expected Salary Range: $11,538.46 – $13,238.81 bi-weekly

OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the Physician will independently deliver primary healthcare services for our organization, while also undertaking related responsibilities as necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties, assigned by the Chief Medical Officer, may be modified based on the needs of patients and clinic services:

  • Gather and assess patient health histories, documenting findings accurately and systematically.
  • Conduct physical examinations, distinguishing between normal and abnormal results.
  • Provide routine physical assessments, diagnostic services, and treatment for illnesses and emergencies.
  • Uphold the highest medical ethical standards consistently.
  • Ensure quality care for all patients.
  • Share on-call responsibilities with other medical staff as needed.
  • Collect and document detailed patient medical histories.
  • Evaluate patients to assess their overall physical health.
  • Order and perform various tests, analyses, and imaging to gather information about patient conditions.
  • Interpret test results and examinations to diagnose conditions.
  • Administer or prescribe appropriate treatments and medications.
  • Provide vaccinations to protect patients from communicable diseases.
  • Advise patients on diet, hygiene, and disease prevention methods.
  • Report births, deaths, and outbreaks of contagious diseases to relevant authorities.
  • Refer patients to specialists for advanced treatment as necessary.
  • Perform minor surgical procedures.
  • Conduct physical exams for school admissions, job considerations, or insurance eligibility.
  • Assist the Chief Medical Officer in formulating medical policies, reviewing existing policies, and implementing necessary changes; design, execute, and assess educational programs for patients and staff.
  • Share supervisory duties of nurse practitioners with the Clinical Director as required.
  • Operate within the privileges and protocols established by the Chief Medical Officer.
  • Participate in committees as requested by the Chief Medical Officer.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including infection control regulations.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care (infants, children, adolescents, adults, and seniors).
  • Understand protocols related to domestic violence, child abuse, and elder abuse.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and uphold confidentiality regarding patient, employee, and organizational communications.
  • Engage in patient population management concerning clinical services, considering cultural diversity and local resources.
  • Participate in care coordination by following up with patients post-hospital discharge, assisting with follow-up appointments, and gathering data from recent admissions.
  • Support self-management by building relationships with high-risk clients and anticipating their needs, referring to an RN when clinical judgment is needed.
  • Enhance communication with all team members, advocating for patients and utilizing available resources to facilitate care. Collaborate with the Care Team (PCP, RN, Health Educator, LCSW, Director of Nursing, and/or Chief Medical Officer) to ensure patients receive appropriate services to achieve their goals.
  • Engage in quality improvement processes, which may involve meetings, data collection, and charge auditing. Utilize Evidence-Based Practice guidelines for disease management.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES

May oversee mid-level providers under the guidance of the Chief Medical Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Must possess a Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from an accredited institution. Completion of a residency program in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, or Pediatrics is required. Board Certification or eligibility is mandatory. Ongoing education in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, or Pediatrics through participation in local and national medical organizations is expected.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Capable of responding effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.

MATHEMATICAL ABILITY

Competence in basic arithmetic operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division across various units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, as well as interpret bar graphs.

REASONING SKILLS

Comprehensive understanding of family-centered medicine principles, practices, and techniques. Ability to apply logical or scientific reasoning to a diverse range of intellectual and practical challenges.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, and REGISTRATIONS

Must hold a current, unrestricted, and valid Physician and Surgeon license or equivalent from the Medical Board of California. Board Certification or eligibility in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, or Pediatrics is required. Must also possess a current, unrestricted, and valid DEA license, along with Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) for FP/IM, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) for Pediatrics, and Basic Life Support (BLS-C) certifications for all specialties.

Annual health assessments, annual TB skin test clearance or biannual chest X-ray, and up-to-date immunizations for healthcare workers are required upon hire and annually thereafter.
