Expected Salary Range: $11,538.46 – $13,238.81 bi-weekly

OVERVIEW

Under the guidance of the Chief Medical Officer, the Physician is responsible for delivering primary healthcare services at our community health centers, while also undertaking related tasks as necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Chief Medical Officer will assign various duties, which may be modified based on the needs of patients and clinic services. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Gathering and assessing patient health histories, documenting findings accurately and systematically.
  • Conducting physical assessments and distinguishing between normal and abnormal results.
  • Providing routine physical exams, diagnostic services, and treatment for illnesses and emergencies.
  • Upholding the highest medical ethical standards at all times.
  • Ensuring quality care for all patients.
  • Participating in on-call duties with other medical staff as needed.
  • Collecting and recording detailed patient medical histories.
  • Evaluating patients to assess their overall physical health.
  • Ordering and performing various tests, analyses, and diagnostic imaging to inform patient care.
  • Interpreting test results and examinations to diagnose conditions.
  • Administering or prescribing treatments and medications.
  • Providing vaccinations to protect patients from communicable diseases.
  • Advising patients on diet, hygiene, and disease prevention strategies.
  • Reporting births, deaths, and outbreaks of contagious diseases to relevant authorities.
  • Referring patients to specialists for advanced treatment.
  • Performing minor surgical procedures.
  • Conducting physical exams for school admissions, job considerations, or insurance eligibility.
  • Assisting the Chief Medical Officer in formulating medical policies, reviewing existing policies, and implementing necessary changes; designing and evaluating educational programs for patients and staff.
  • Co-managing the supervision of nurse practitioners with the Clinical Director as required.
  • Operating within the privileges and protocols set by the Chief Medical Officer.
  • Participating in committees as requested by the Chief Medical Officer.
  • Adhering to all safety policies and procedures, including infection control regulations.
  • Demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care for patients across all age groups.
  • Understanding protocols related to domestic violence, child abuse, and elder abuse.
  • Maintaining compliance with HIPAA and ensuring confidentiality of communications.
  • Engaging in patient population management concerning clinical services while considering cultural diversity and local resources.
  • Coordinating care by following up with patients post-hospital discharge and assisting with follow-up appointments.
  • Building relationships with high-risk clients to support self-management and recognizing when to refer to an RN for clinical concerns.
  • Enhancing communication with all team members, advocating for patients, and utilizing available resources to facilitate care.
  • Collaborating with the Care Team (PCP, RN, Health Educator, LCSW, Director of Nursing, and/or Chief Medical Officer) to ensure patients receive appropriate services to achieve their health goals.
  • Understanding the quality improvement process, which may involve meetings, data collection, and auditing charges, while applying Evidence-Based Practice guidelines for disease management.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES

May oversee mid-level providers as directed by the Chief Medical Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must possess a Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from an accredited institution. Completion of a residency program in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, or Pediatrics is required. Board Certification or eligibility is also necessary. Ongoing education in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, or Pediatrics through participation in medical societies is expected.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Must respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.

MATHEMATICAL ABILITY

Competence in basic arithmetic operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, as well as interpret bar graphs.

REASONING SKILLS

In-depth knowledge of family-centered medicine principles and practices. Ability to apply logical or scientific reasoning to a variety of intellectual and practical challenges.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

Must hold a current, unrestricted, and valid Physician and Surgeon license or equivalent from the Medical Board. Board Certification or eligibility in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, or Pediatrics is required. Must also possess a current, unrestricted DEA license, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification for FP/IM, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) for Pediatrics, and Basic Life Support (BLS-C) certification for all specialties.

Annual health examinations, annual TB skin test clearance or biannual chest X-ray, and up-to-date immunizations for healthcare workers are required upon hire and annually thereafter.
