OB/GYN Sonographer

Job Description

The Sonographer utilizes high frequency sound waves to produce ultrasound images and related data used by physicians to render a medical diagnosis and perform other duties as listed below.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting and involves frequent telephone contact, as well as face-to-face communication with patients. Interactions with others in constant and interruptive. There is possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, bodily fluids, and other conditions common to medical practice. Varied activities including walking, bending, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), stooping, assisting patients and sitting for extended periods of time may occur. Also, occasional stress from multiple responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities

Represent MMC in a courteous and professional mannerGreet guests and incoming calls in a polite, prompt, and helpful mannerBe at your workstation on time and prepared to start the dayBe flexible when asked to stay past your scheduled work time (as needed) to accommodate the needs of patientsProvide prompt, efficient, and accurate patient serviceMeet or exceed patient, doctor, and staff expectations through a cooperative, teamwork approachSet up equipment and exam room and prepare patient for examinationObtain, review, and retrieve pertinent patient history, physical exam, and supporting clinical data to facilitate the physician in determining a diagnosisProperly perform diagnostic procedures by producing, assessing, and evaluating ultrasound images and related data used by physiciansProvide the interpreting physician with an oral or written summary of technical findings at the discretions of the physicianComplete all necessary paperwork and assist with proper codingKeep clinic and exam rooms clean and sanitizedFollow all patient safety guidelinesMaintain necessary stockSterilize and clean equipment after use and report any equipment difficulties or failuresUtilize the Electronic Medical Record for all patient interactions and communicationBe knowledgeable and adhere to OSHA guidelines and MMC policies and proceduresWith instruction, perform other duties as required or assigned
