Job Title: OB High-Risk Ultrasound Technologist
Location: Manhattan, NY 10037
Duration: 9–14 Weeks (with possible extension)
Shift: Day Shift | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Position Summary
A healthcare organization is seeking an experienced OB High-Risk Ultrasound Technologist to perform advanced obstetric ultrasound examinations and support maternal-fetal medicine services. The ideal candidate will have expertise in high-risk OB imaging, fetal assessments, and diagnostic ultrasound protocols while providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive obstetric ultrasound examinations, including first, second, and third-trimester scans
- Conduct detailed fetal anatomy surveys and fetal growth assessments
- Perform biophysical profiles (BPP), cervical length measurements, and amniotic fluid evaluations
- Obtain and document fetal Doppler studies, including:
- Umbilical artery
- Middle cerebral artery (MCA)
- Uterine artery
- Other indicated Doppler evaluations
- Acquire accurate diagnostic images and measurements according to AIUM, ACR, and departmental standards
- Identify and document abnormal findings and communicate critical results to interpreting physicians
- Assist Maternal-Fetal Medicine physicians with ultrasound-guided procedures, including:
- Amniocentesis
- Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS)
- Other fetal procedures as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation within EMR and PACS systems
- Ensure patient safety, comfort, privacy, and compliance with HIPAA and infection control standards
- Perform routine ultrasound equipment checks and quality assurance activities
- Participate in continuing education and maintain required certifications
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
- ARDMS Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential with OB/GYN specialty (or equivalent certification as required)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum 2 years of OB/GYN ultrasound experience
- Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) or high-risk OB ultrasound experience preferred
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of fetal anatomy and obstetric pathology
- Proficiency with advanced obstetric ultrasound imaging protocols
- Experience performing fetal assessments and Doppler studies
- Excellent communication and patient care skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
