Our organization is on the lookout for a Board Certified/Board Eligible OB/GYN Generalist Physician to become part of our collaborative team located in the picturesque Lower Valley of New Hampshire. We are enthusiastic about attracting and retaining skilled physicians who are eager to join a dynamic, inclusive, and innovative environment in Keene, NH.

Overview
  • The Team:

    • 5 Generalist OB/GYN physicians

    • 6 Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs)

    • 3 Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs)

  • Approximately 425 deliveries each year

  • Conducting around 385 gynecologic surgeries annually

  • A blend of outpatient, inpatient, and operating room responsibilities

  • Comprehensive practice including high-risk prenatal and postpartum care, gynecological and well-woman visits, preventive care, family planning, and abortion services.

Gynecology
  • A busy gynecological surgery service with options for both in-office and operating room cases. Minor surgery facilities are available.

  • Access to urogynecology specialty consultations in-office. Gynecologic oncology consultations are available within our healthcare system.

  • Trained first assistants are available for surgical procedures, allowing collaboration with practice partners.

Obstetrics
  • Operates within a collaborative midwifery model for low-risk pregnancies, taking responsibility for the care and delivery of high-risk patients.

  • Engages in risk-based antenatal evaluations and treatments for obstetric patients, collaborating with Maternal Fetal Medicine for optimal care.

  • Midwifery model: Midwives provide continuous support during labor, complemented by an integrated volunteer doula program.

  • Comprehensive prenatal education is provided, with a dedicated nurse conducting new OB intakes and 28-week educational visits.

  • Handles complex operative and surgical deliveries and manages obstetric emergencies as they arise.

  • Provides care for patients during the postpartum period following surgical and operative deliveries.

Call Responsibilities
  • Shared call responsibilities within the generalist OB/GYN group, including 24-hour shifts on weekdays, limited urgent visit clinics, and weekend call coverage.

  • First call for emergency room and gynecology cases, with midwives as the primary call for obstetrics.

Clinic Operations
  • A balanced clinic schedule that allows for documentation during the workday.

  • Utilization of AI scribe technology for efficient documentation.

  • Nursing triage is available during the day for patient inquiries and calls.

  • In-office behavioral health consultations are accessible.

Connection to Academic Center
  • Engagement in Department Grand Rounds, continuing medical education presentations, and quality improvement lectures.

  • Involvement in policy and procedure development and review within multidisciplinary teams.

Teaching Responsibilities
  • Supervision and instruction of Family Medicine Residents.

  • Oversight and teaching of medical students during their core OB/GYN rotation.

  • Participation in the education of midwifery, nurse practitioner, nursing, and other students.

Additional Opportunities
  • Involvement in departmental performance improvement initiatives.

  • Opportunities to engage in system-wide quality improvement efforts across the healthcare system.

  • Participation in hospital and medical staff committees and activities.

Expectations
  • Ensure timely and thorough documentation of all patient care provided.

  • Respond to work-related electronic communications (EHR InBasket and email) within three business days, maintaining a collegial and professional tone.

  • May oversee the activities of other team members within a collaborative model across the healthcare system.

  • Consistently deliver excellent service to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and colleagues, reflecting our organization’s standards of performance and principles of a just culture.
