Department Summary:

The mission of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is to provide the highest quality clinical care in both general and specialty Obstetrics and Gynecology to the women of central Virginia. In addition, to the clinical mission, the department has the allied goals of providing undergraduate and graduate medical education in the field and advancing the field through basic and clinical research.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking qualified candidates to provide specialty care in reproductive endocrinology and infertility to patients at VCU Health. The position will include participation in student and resident education and facilitating the creation of a Fellowship program. The position also includes participating in the department's clinical research activities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Teaching

The faculty member will have teaching responsibilities to include actively participating in the department's educational activities, with particular attention to educating students and residents in their core educational objectives in reproductive endocrinology and infertility.

  1. Research

The person filling the position is encouraged to initiate clinical research projects. They are expected to participate in and facilitate other department research and contribute to scholarly publications/presentations.

  1. Service

The faculty member will serve on departmental, hospital and/or university committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field. They will also be assigned to committees at the discretion of the division director and department chair.

  1. Clinical

Full participation in the clinical activities of the reproductive endocrinology and infertility division is expected. Clinical activities are to be determined the division director but are expected to include a combination of clinic, inpatient care, and operating room. Outpatient responsibilities may be at VCU Medical Center or off-site at the discretion of the chair and division director.

  1. Other (for instance administrative duties, etc.)

Participate in department and institutional administrative activities as assigned by the section chief and chair.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of ABOG or ACGME accredited fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility
  • Eligible for medical license in Virginia
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and patient care
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of an ACGME accredited OB/GYN residency
  • Certification by the American Board of OB/GYN in General OB/GYN and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility; candidates who completed their fellowship recently enough that they are not yet eligible to sit for the exam will be considered with the expectation that they take the certification exams at the earliest opportunity
  • Potential for scholarship or creative expression to complement and expand existing expertise in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
