Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Must be able to fulfill all functions and duties of a Special Facility Lifeguard.
- Work lifeguard shifts as needed.
- Support aquatics and supervisory team members.
- Respond to calls from Aquatic team members.
- Perform zone walk-throughs and ensure zones are maintained to park standards related to both aquatic safety and park cleanliness.
- Assist supervisors with conducting in-service trainings.
- Assist and conduct department trainings.
- Assist supervisors in performing Vigilance Awareness Testing (VAT), mid-season scanning, and mid-season CPR testing.
- Conduct slide walking and safety inspections.
- Communicate effectively with team members, other lead guards, supervisors, and leadership.
- Ability to properly and safely operate equipment used.
- Knowledge of standard of care in aquatic industry.
- Supervise guest experience to ensure excellent customer service is provided by the aquatic staff.
- Ensure Lifeguards follow park policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment for customers and other team members.
- Provide superior customer service to all customers in a polite and expedient manner.
- Assist customers with questions regarding Ocean Breeze Waterpark.
- Follow park policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
- Minimum one year lifeguarding experience.
- Experience working as a deep guard preferred.
- Record of punctuality and infrequent call-outs.
- Ability to accept guidance and supervision.
- Demonstrate ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, team members, and leadership.
- Be aware, attentive, and work well with others.
- Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions while taking precautions including hydration and sun-protection.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to swim 200 yards using front crawl, freestyle, or breaststroke without resting.
- Must be able to perform a feet-first surface dive, retrieve a 10-lb. brick, and bring it to the surface.
- Must be able to tread water without using arms for 2 minutes.
- Must have 20/20 corrected vision.
- Must have hearing and speech, manual and bi-manual dexterity, fine and gross motor skills, and eye-hand coordination.
- Must be able to get in and out of a pool without a ladder.
- Must be comfortable jumping in water from varying heights.
- Ability to climb stairs.
- Must be able to respond to situations quickly to include running to various locations around the park.
- Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time.
