Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must be able to fulfill all functions and duties of a Special Facility Lifeguard.
  • Work lifeguard shifts as needed.
  • Support aquatics and supervisory team members.
  • Respond to calls from Aquatic team members.
  • Perform zone walk-throughs and ensure zones are maintained to park standards related to both aquatic safety and park cleanliness.
  • Assist supervisors with conducting in-service trainings.
  • Assist and conduct department trainings.
  • Assist supervisors in performing Vigilance Awareness Testing (VAT), mid-season scanning, and mid-season CPR testing.
  • Conduct slide walking and safety inspections.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, other lead guards, supervisors, and leadership.
  • Ability to properly and safely operate equipment used.
  • Knowledge of standard of care in aquatic industry.
  • Supervise guest experience to ensure excellent customer service is provided by the aquatic staff.
  • Ensure Lifeguards follow park policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment for customers and other team members.
  • Provide superior customer service to all customers in a polite and expedient manner.
  • Assist customers with questions regarding Ocean Breeze Waterpark.
  • Follow park policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
  • Minimum one year lifeguarding experience.
  • Experience working as a deep guard preferred.
  • Record of punctuality and infrequent call-outs.
  • Ability to accept guidance and supervision.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, team members, and leadership.
  • Be aware, attentive, and work well with others.
  • Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions while taking precautions including hydration and sun-protection.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to swim 200 yards using front crawl, freestyle, or breaststroke without resting.
  • Must be able to perform a feet-first surface dive, retrieve a 10-lb. brick, and bring it to the surface.
  • Must be able to tread water without using arms for 2 minutes.
  • Must have 20/20 corrected vision.
  • Must have hearing and speech, manual and bi-manual dexterity, fine and gross motor skills, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Must be able to get in and out of a pool without a ladder.
  • Must be comfortable jumping in water from varying heights.
  • Ability to climb stairs.
  • Must be able to respond to situations quickly to include running to various locations around the park.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time.
