The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Physical Therapy has an exciting opportunity for a full time Occupational Therapist 4 to work in Doral, FL. The Occupational Therapist IV provides advanced and specialized rehabilitation services to patients and clients in accordance with the AOTA guidelines for occupational therapy. The Occupational Therapist IV leads and mentors healthcare teams, including physicians, physical therapists, and psychologists, and contributes to the development of clinical programs and research initiatives.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs comprehensive evaluations of new patients, establishing complex goals and advanced treatment plans.
Leads the progression of patients through various levels of treatment, ensuring optimal outcomes within the patient's maximum capabilities.
Documents all evaluations, treatments, and other pertinent patient interactions with a high level of detail and accuracy.
Provides advanced education to patients and families regarding medical conditions and treatment plans.
Maintains effective communication with all members of the rehabilitation team, fostering a collaborative environment.
Communicates with physicians and their staff to obtain additional information and suggests revisions in treatment, utilizing advanced clinical knowledge.
Leads quality and safety improvement activities, implementing best practices and innovative solutions.
Orients, instructs, and directs work activities for assistants and support personnel, ensuring adherence to professional standards.
Supervises and mentors occupational therapy students and junior clinicians, providing advanced clinical instruction and support.
Develops and participates in educational programs for staff, patients, and the community, focusing on advanced clinical topics.
Represents the University at conferences and seminars, showcasing expertise and contributing to the field of occupational therapy.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures, safeguarding University assets and ensuring compliance with regulations.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Masters level of education - Doctoral degree in occupational therapy preferred
Certification and Licensing:
Licensure in occupational therapy
Experience:
10 years of relevant experience
Demonstrated expertise in a specialized area of occupational therapy
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and according to HIPPA requirements.
Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends and holidays as necessary.

For Acute care "Senior Specialist" criteria: must also include all 6 acute care rotations, including all critical care rotations (CVICU, SICU,MICU, NICU)
Department Specific Functions
Use treatment tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner.
Initiates communication with physicians and their staff directly, or electronically, by phone, or in writing. Obtain necessary additional information and take a pro-active role in suggesting revisions in treatment as appropriate.
Maintains an above minimum level of productivity and demonstrates willingness to adjust personal schedule in case of crisis or real clinic need.
Develops and implements advanced clinical protocols to contribute to team performance: Creates and updates clinical protocols based on the latest research and best practices to ensure high-quality patient care
Lead quality and safety improvement activities as directed by the Satellite / Facility Clinical Coordinator.
Orient, instruct and direct work activities for assistants and support personnel.
Participate in program development and marketing efforts as directed by the Department Director.
Lead program development and marketing efforts as directed by the Satellite / Facility Clinical Coordinator.
Provide or participate in educational programs for staff, patients, and the community at large.
Provides expert consultation: Offers expert consultation to other physical therapists and healthcare providers on complex cases and advanced treatment techniques.
Represents the Department of Physical Therapy at departmental or non-departmental Grand Rounds, and/ or other professional events.
Participate in reviewing current evidence-based interventions, and contributes to publication effort.
Serves as an advanced clinician to support the department's educational mission through mentorship and training of residents and students, and provide support for the health system's development initiatives.
Demonstrates continuous professional development and serves as a role model for junior clinicians.
Demonstrates professional behaviors that align with teambuilding and the creation of a positive work environment.
Maintain knowledge, awareness, and compliance of "constant state of readiness", assist junior staff in developing their knowledge, awareness, and compliance of same. Adapt as guidelines change.
Participate in and/or develop community outreach programs to educate the public about physical therapy and promote health and wellness.
Coordinates with external partners: Collaborates with external healthcare providers and organizations to enhance patient care and facilitate collaborative hand-off service offerings and/or equipment acquisition.
