Job Description

Liquid Personnel on behalf of its client is recruiting an Occupational Therapist to join the Adult Social Care Team in Kensington and Chelsea.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist who is passionate about supporting older adults and people with disabilities to live as independently as possible. In this role, you will manage a diverse caseload, undertake holistic assessments, and develop practical, person-centred solutions that enable residents to overcome challenges in their daily lives.

Working within a supportive and collaborative Adult Social Care service, you will play a key role in promoting independence, wellbeing, and positive outcomes for service users across the borough.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Manage a caseload, ensuring assessments and casework are completed effectively and within required timescales.
  • Undertake holistic assessments of service users and carers, identifying needs and priorities.
  • Assess and advise residents on their daily living needs.
  • Recommend and arrange appropriate equipment and minor adaptations to support independence and safety at home.
  • Demonstrate and instruct service users, families and carers in the safe use and maintenance of equipment and adaptations.
  • Provide advice around housing suitability and special housing needs.
  • Contribute to the Occupational Therapy Duty System.
  • Work closely with health, social care, voluntary sector and other partner agencies to ensure continuity of care.
  • Liaise with relevant departments and external agencies regarding Disabled Facilities Grants.
  • Maintain accurate and concise professional records, statistics and departmental documentation.
  • Support the supervision of Occupational Therapy Assistants and students where required.
  • Contribute to service development, policy reviews, projects and professional initiatives.
  • Represent the OT team at meetings and working groups when required.

Qualifications & Experience:

To be successful in this role you must have, 

  • A Diploma of the College of Occupational Therapists or BSc in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current registration as an Occupational Therapist with the HCPC.
  • Experience working with older people and/or people with disabilities.
  • Strong experience undertaking holistic assessments and identifying appropriate outcomes.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and its impact on service users.
  • An understanding of current professional issues within Occupational Therapy and Adult Social Care.
  • Awareness of Health & Safety legislation and guidance.
  • An understanding of the issues affecting disabled people living in an inner-city environment.
  • Excellent communication, partnership-working and customer-service skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and maintain high professional standards.
