Occupational Therapist 1- Outpatient
Purpose:
The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for providing comprehensive occupational therapy services to patients in an outpatient setting. This role involves performing therapy evaluations, developing treatment plans and goals, and applying interventions in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the profession, applicable state licensure regulations, and hospital policies and procedures. Population served is based on scope of services in the department. Potential for rotation to alternative rehabilitation settings may exist based on operational needs.
Availability of a career ladder is site-specific. Any associated requirements can be found in the department’s standard operating procedures.
Essential Responsibilities
1. Conducts comprehensive therapy evaluations, collaborates with patients to develop individualized treatment plans, and establishes treatment goals to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes.
2. Applies evidence-based practices and adheres to AOTA guidelines to independently make clinical decisions within the scope of expertise, while seeking guidance when appropriate to ensure high-quality care and effective performance of duties.
3. Adheres to the regulatory guidelines for the provision of care, all applicable billing regulations and statutory guidelines
4. Delegates appropriate tasks to assistants, aides, and support personnel. Supervises students as assigned.
5. Collaborates with other disciplines to provide coordinated interdisciplinary patient care.
6. Coordinates care with the patient and will involve caregivers, as appropriate.
7. Participates in educational in-services, meetings, and performance improvement activities.
8. Completes all documentation within established time frames.
9. Provides care to special populations including Total Joint Replacement, Spine, and Stroke as per hospital protocols.
10. Maintains and models the organization’s values.
11. Demonstrates regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
· Masters Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience
License, Registration, or Certification Requirements:
· OT License for applicable state (NY or CT); temporary licensure may be considered at the discretion of departmental leadership.
· BLS certified
Physical Effort: Medium to Heavy effort. May exert up to 35 lbs. force
Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
