We are representing Encompass Health, a national leader in inpatient rehabilitation, seeking an Occupational Therapist for its Boise, Idaho hospital.

This role offers the opportunity to work directly with rehabilitation patients as they regain independence, functional ability, and confidence following illness, injury, surgery, or other significant medical events.

The Occupational Therapist will evaluate patients, develop individualized treatment plans, provide direct therapeutic care, and collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists, case management, and other members of the rehabilitation team.

Job Details

The Occupational Therapist will provide direct occupational therapy services to patients within an inpatient rehabilitation setting.

The role focuses on helping patients improve the functional skills required for daily life, independence, safety, and successful transition back into their homes and communities.

Occupational Therapists will complete patient assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, provide therapeutic interventions, monitor progress, and adjust care plans based on patient response and rehabilitation goals.

This position requires a clinician who combines strong technical skills with patience, communication, creativity, and the ability to build meaningful relationships with patients throughout the rehabilitation process.

Responsibilities

Evaluate patients requiring occupational therapy services
Complete comprehensive functional and clinical assessments
Develop individualized occupational therapy treatment plans
Provide direct therapeutic interventions based on patient needs and goals
Help patients improve activities of daily living and functional independence
Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate
Educate patients and families regarding therapy goals, techniques, and home-safety strategies
Identify barriers affecting successful rehabilitation and discharge
Collaborate with physicians, nursing, physical therapy, speech therapy, case management, and other clinical disciplines
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and patient progress discussions
Support safe transitions from inpatient rehabilitation to home or other care settings

Qualifications

Current Occupational Therapist licensure or certification as required by Idaho regulations
Current CPR certification
Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy preferred
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy may be considered with sufficient relevant professional experience
Strong patient assessment and treatment-planning skills
Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team
Strong communication and patient-education skills

Previous inpatient rehabilitation or acute-care experience is preferred but is not necessarily required for candidates who otherwise meet licensing and clinical qualifications.
