Job Overview – Occupational Therapist
Compensation: $76,000/year
Location: Bronx, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM

TAG MedStaffing is hiring an Occupational Therapist in Bronx, NY for our client, supporting occupational therapy services, functional skill development, motor development, and student participation within a school-based setting. This role will collaborate with educators, therapists, families, and support staff to help students improve independence, classroom engagement, and overall functional performance. The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical skills, pediatric or school-based experience, and a collaborative approach to supporting student growth and success.

Responsibilities as the Occupational Therapist:
  • Student Evaluations: Conduct screenings, assessments, and ongoing evaluations to identify functional, developmental, and educational support needs.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans designed to improve sensory processing, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, and classroom participation.
  • IEP Support: Contribute to the development of IEP goals, attend conferences, and provide recommendations to support student progress and educational access.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Partner with teachers, therapists, families, and support staff to coordinate services and promote student success.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate treatment records, progress reports, evaluations, attendance records, and required educational documentation.
  • Family & Staff Education: Provide guidance, training, and recommendations regarding therapeutic strategies, adaptive techniques, and functional skill development.

Qualifications for the Occupational Therapist:
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program is required.
  • Licensure: Active New York State Occupational Therapist license is required.
  • Experience: 1–3 years of occupational therapy experience within pediatric, educational, developmental disability, or related healthcare settings is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of pediatric development, school-based therapy services, and student support strategies is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with clinical documentation systems, Microsoft Office applications, and educational record management platforms is required.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, adaptability, and organizational skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams are required.
