Help Students Do What Matters Most
Some kids need more than a great teacher to succeed at school — they need someone who can help them hold a pencil, navigate a hallway, manage sensory overload, or gain the independence to do it all on their own. That's you.
Buckeye Elementary School District is hiring a school-based Occupational Therapist to serve students across our campuses. You'll work with a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, supervise a dedicated COTA who extends your impact, and see the direct results of your work in classrooms every day.
What You'll Do
Evaluate students with physical, developmental, and learning disabilities using standardized assessments and clinical observation in the educational setting
Design and deliver evidence-based intervention plans aligned with IEP goals — always in the least restrictive environment
Supervise one Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), guiding program implementation and quality
Recommend and support adaptive equipment and assistive technology that unlocks student independence
Partner with teachers, families, and school teams — attending IEP meetings and keeping communication open and consistent
Monitor programs carried out by Health Aides and instructional staff to protect student health and performance
Support students through key transitions: early intervention to preschool, preschool to school age, and school to work
Maintain timely documentation, including evaluation reports, therapy notes, IEP paperwork, and Medicaid billing
What You Bring
Required:
Accredited degree in Occupational Therapy
Current AOTCB certification and Arizona Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners licensure (OT)
Valid Arizona driver's license
School-based OT experience
Preferred:
Preschool/early childhood experience
Experience supervising or collaborating with a COTA
You're a strong communicator — in writing and in IEP meetings — and equally comfortable working independently or as part of a school team.
