An Occupational Therapist opportunity is available in Fort Pierce, FL at a 380-bed acute-care hospital offering a full range of inpatient and outpatient services, including open-heart surgery, labor and delivery, pediatrics, orthopedics, oncology, nuclear medicine, and adult and pediatric emergency services.
The role. The Occupational Therapist manages the complete process of occupational therapeutic care for an assigned group of patients, working in coordination with the physician and the broader patient care team. Core responsibilities include completing patient assessments and participating in the development and implementation of individualized care plans focused on goal achievement and patient engagement. The OT provides purposeful and skilled intervention using procedures and techniques designed to produce functional change consistent with the physician's plan of care, while observing and reporting patient reactions and changes in condition. The role also involves communicating pertinent payor needs and requirements to the physician, treatment team, patient, and patient's family in a timely manner, as well as prioritizing caseload, determining daily staffing needs, and coordinating assignments and handoffs across the continuum of care.
