Occupational Therapist I

We are hiring an Occupational Therapist I. Our role will provide quality patient care and family training through evaluation, treatment planning, and the application and assignment of occupational therapy modalities and procedures in accordance with the regulations governing the practice of occupational therapy and in accordance with the philosophy and policies of the City of Hope National Medical Center.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Demonstrate entry-level skills in developing treatment goals and plans based on evaluation data, rehabilitation potential, discharge plans, and in coordination with goals and plans of patient, family, and other care team members.
  • Demonstrate entry-level skill and creativity in implementing patient treatment programs which are safe, effective, and efficient.
  • Demonstrate entry-level skills in modifying treatment plans according to patient needs and progress, terminate treatment appropriately, and develop appropriate discharge and post-discharge plans.
  • Complete evaluations, progress notes, reassessments, discharge summaries, and third-party reimbursement reports per established departmental, institutional, and regulatory requirements within required time frames.
  • Follow all City of Hope and departmental policies.
  • Collaborate with physician and other healthcare professionals to ensure ongoing integrated patient care.
  • Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patient and caregivers.
  • Assign treatments to occupational therapy aides and occupational therapist assistants.
  • Assess quality of care provided.
  • Pursue professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to maintain certification, licensure, and/or keep abreast of latest trends in field; provides education to staff following attendance at seminars, workshops, conferences.
  • Act as a preceptor to occupational therapy and occupational therapist assistant students after working at least one year in current position.
  • Demonstrate competence with daily operations within.
  • Continually contribute the departments hospital survey readiness.
  • Participate in case conferences and discharge planning activities.
  • Coordinate with a CCS case manager for referral to a CCS-paneled provider or CCS MTU for the patient who may continue to require occupational therapy services after hospital discharge.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school.
  • Entry-level position; no experience required.
  • Current Occupational Therapist license in the State of California or licensed applicant status in the state of California.
  • BLS Certification through the American Heart Association.
  • For pediatric service: CCS Panel provider or complete application within 60 days of hire or when hours attained.
