Job Title: Occupational Therapist IPR
Location: Detroit, MI (On Site)
Duration: 8 Weeks (Possible Extension and/or Conversion to Full-Time Employment)
Shift Hours: 7:00 AM 5:30 PM (4 x 10-Hour Shifts)
Two options available:
- Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday
- Sunday Wednesday
Required Skills & Experience:
- Experience in Inpatient Rehabilitation (IPR) required.
- Ability to evaluate and treat patients with physical, emotional, cognitive, and psychosocial deficits.
- Experience developing and implementing individualized treatment plans.
- Strong patient and family education skills.
- Experience supervising Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and therapy technicians.
- Proficiency in patient documentation and care plan management.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- Current Occupational Therapist Registration (OTR) credential from the Michigan Board of Occupational Therapists.
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association) required within 30 days of hire/assignment start.
Job Description:
- Evaluate patients to determine their ability to safely and effectively perform activities of daily living (ADLs) and independent living skills.
- Perform comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and identify functional limitations.
- Develop individualized treatment plans, including appropriate treatment frequency and therapeutic interventions.
- Implement occupational therapy treatment programs using evidence-based therapeutic techniques and modalities.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as needed to achieve rehabilitation goals.
- Document evaluations, treatments, patient responses, and progress accurately and timely.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, case managers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.
- Provide education and training to patients, families, and caregivers regarding diagnoses, functional limitations, safety precautions, and adaptive strategies.
- Assist with discharge planning and recommend adaptive equipment, home modifications, and community support resources as appropriate.
- Supervise and delegate responsibilities to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and therapy technicians in accordance with state regulations and professional practice standards.
- Maintain compliance with organizational policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient-centered care planning.
Additional Information:
- This is an 8-week contract assignment with the possibility of extension and/or conversion to a permanent position.
- Candidates must have prior inpatient rehabilitation experience.
