Position Overview
Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist (OT) to support students in a school-based setting in Kingstree, South Carolina.

This opportunity is ideal for an OT who is passionate about helping students develop the skills needed to succeed academically, functionally, and independently. The Occupational Therapist will provide specialized evaluation and intervention services for students with occupational, fine motor, sensory, and visual motor needs that impact their educational experience.

The OT will collaborate closely with students, families, teachers, administrators, and related service providers to provide individualized occupational therapy services aligned with student goals and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate students by assessing fine motor skills, sensory processing, visual motor skills, self-help skills, oral motor skills, range of motion, muscle strength, and other functional abilities.

  • Administer standardized assessments and interpret evaluation results.

  • Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans based on student needs.

  • Provide direct occupational therapy services to support student participation and success in the educational environment.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop strategies, accommodations, and interventions.

  • Participate in IEP planning, implementation, progress monitoring, and discharge planning.

  • Train students and staff on appropriate use of adaptive equipment and intervention strategies.

  • Select, recommend, and maintain adaptive equipment and assistive technology supports as needed.

  • Maintain accurate documentation including progress notes, reports, IEP updates, and required compliance records.

  • Communicate evaluation results, progress updates, and recommendations with teachers, families, and school staff.

  • Participate as a member of assistive technology and related service teams when appropriate.

  • Stay current on professional research, trends, and best practices related to school-based occupational therapy services.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Occupational Therapy required (Master s degree preferred).

  • Current, valid South Carolina Occupational Therapy license through the South Carolina Labor, Licensing and Regulation Board required.

  • School-based or pediatric occupational therapy experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of occupational therapy assessment, intervention strategies, and educational accommodations.

  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with students, families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams.
