Job Title: Occupational Therapist (Pediatric Autism Services)Job Description

This full-time Occupational Therapist position focuses on providing high-quality pediatric services to children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities in Kendall, Florida. You will evaluate and treat students and patients to support independence, sensory regulation, fine motor development, and success in daily routines at home, school, and in the community. The role suits a clinician who is passionate about neurodiverse populations, exercises strong clinical judgment, and enjoys working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations to assess fine motor skills, sensory processing, visual-motor integration, self-care abilities, and overall functional performance.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans that reflect each patient’s strengths, challenges, developmental level, and functional goals.
  • Provide evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to improve independence and participation in daily activities across home, school, and community settings.
  • Address sensory processing challenges using sensory integration and sensory-based treatment strategies tailored to each child’s needs.
  • Implement therapeutic activities that enhance fine motor coordination, handwriting readiness, visual perception, motor planning, attention, self-regulation, and social participation.
  • Collaborate closely with families, teachers, behavior analysts, speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to promote consistent support and positive outcomes.
  • Educate parents and caregivers on home programs, sensory strategies, adaptive techniques, and carryover activities to reinforce therapy goals outside of sessions.
  • Monitor patient progress regularly, adjust treatment plans as needed, and ensure interventions remain aligned with developmental and functional goals.
  • Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation, including evaluations, daily treatment notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, case reviews, and ongoing professional development activities to support best practices in pediatric occupational therapy.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, state regulations, and professional standards of practice in all aspects of service delivery.
  • Provide patient-centered care that emphasizes safety, dignity, and meaningful participation in everyday activities.
Essential Skills
  • Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Active Florida Occupational Therapist license in good standing.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Experience working with pediatric populations in a clinical, educational, or community setting.
  • Strong clinical skills in evaluating and treating fine motor, sensory processing, visual-motor, and self-care challenges.
  • Ability to design and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans for children and adolescents.
  • Effective communication skills for working with children, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with neurodiverse children and their caregivers.
  • Solid organizational skills to manage caseloads, documentation, and scheduling requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations and families, demonstrating sensitivity and respect.
  • Commitment to professional ethics, state regulations, and standards of practice in occupational therapy.
  • Foundational knowledge of occupational health, medical and rehabilitative services, and patient care principles.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Knowledge of sensory integration principles and typical developmental milestones.
  • Experience in pediatric outpatient, school-based, early intervention, or multidisciplinary therapy settings.
  • Familiarity with adaptive equipment and assistive technology used in pediatric practice.
  • Bilingual ability in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams that may include behavior analysts, speech-language pathologists, and physical therapists.
  • Interest in ongoing professional development related to pediatric rehabilitation and neurodiversity-affirming care.
Work Environment

This role is based in a pediatric-focused setting dedicated to serving children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities. You will work in a multidisciplinary environment that emphasizes collaboration with behavior analysts, speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, educators, and families. The position is full-time and involves direct, hands-on therapy services, documentation, and participation in team meetings. The environment supports the use of sensory equipment, adaptive tools, and rehabilitative resources tailored to pediatric needs. You will provide services across functional contexts that may include clinic-based spaces, school-related activities, and home or community-focused programming, with a strong emphasis on creating a supportive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate atmosphere for children and their families.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $92000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
