    Job Description: 

    The Occupational Therapist is a qualified professional who directs, supervises, evaluates, and provides occupational therapy services to clients in an outpatient setting or in the home/community and as prescribed by the referring physician.

     

     Required Qualifications

     

     Education/Certification:

    • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent from accredited university 
    • Current state license to practice Occupational Therapy in the state of  Texas (Texas by the Executive Council of Physical and Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners)
    • Must be in possession of a current state license on or before the first day of employment (unless otherwise agreed upon and written in contract). 
    • CPR / First Aid certification 

     

    Essential Functions:

     

    Implementation: 

    • Implement direct and consultative occupational therapy services for learners in various locations and delivery systems (individual or group settings). 
    • Implement and monitor goals and objectives of therapeutic activities.
    • Demonstrate knowledgeable, efficient, and accurate use of electronic data collection. 
    • Assist in the creation and implementation of occupational therapy services within the current and evolving ABA structure in the assigned practice location and setting working closely with the Director of Occupational Therapy. 

     

    Evaluation and Documentation:

    • Conduct initial occupational therapy assessments. 
    • Conduct re-evaluation assessments at least every six to nine months (unless required more often based on progress or insurance authorizations). 
    • Demonstrate knowledge of and use of a variety of standardized assessment/screening tools effectively under the direction of the Director of Occupational Therapy.
    • Demonstrate ability to write comprehensive evaluations, re-evaluations, and progress reports that communicate goals and objectives to parents, therapists, and support staff.
    • Conduct and submit progress reports as needed. 
    • Complete reports in a timely fashion as established with the supervisor.
    • Formulate measurable and observable long-term and short-term goals.
    • Collect observable and measurable data for goals.
    • Ensure that patient charts are documented accurately and entered on a timely basis; complying with HIPAA regulations
    • Complete discharge summary reports and ensure any other transition documentation as needed. 

     

    Collaboration/Communication: 

    • Consistently communicates with all Departmental Directors, regarding specialized programs and results from sessions if requested. 
    • Provide routine notes and feedback to supervisees as applicable. 
    • Communicate clearly with parents, other support staff, specialists, and administration regarding patients as in compliance with privacy regulations.
    • Collaborate and arrange meetings with team members as necessary for the maintenance of treatment programs.
    • Seek additional information from supervisor or administrator as warranted.
    • Participate effectively at regular team meetings with supervisory staff members, interdisciplinary team members, and other support staff using appropriate social skills, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
    • Conduct training on topics related to occupational therapy for all staff.
    • Participate in assigned multi-disciplinary trainings or projects.


    Professional Development and Conduct: 

    • Identify professional strengths and limitations and set and meet performance goals.
    • Follow CoLlab Pediatric Therapies procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. 
    • Fulfill national and state board continuing education requirements to maintain that all professional licenses are in good standing. 

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • Oversee therapy administered by Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants as applicable.
    • Adhere to supervision guidelines of occupational therapy assistants outlined by national and state regulatory boards of the state occupational therapy license is held.
