AACA is a Nonpublic School (NPS) serving students ages 5 to 22 with severe behavioral and developmental needs. Our mission is to provide individualized instruction and therapeutic support to help each student reach their fullest potential in a structured, compassionate environment.


Position Summary


The Occupational Therapist provides assessment, treatment, and consultative services to students with complex behavioral, sensory, and developmental challenges. This role is essential in supporting students’ access to their educational environments by improving fine motor skills, self-regulation, sensory processing, and daily living abilities. The hours for this position are Monday-Friday 8:30AM-3:30PM.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and contribute to the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that target functional, sensory, and behavioral goals.
  • Collaborate with teachers, behavioral specialists, and other related service providers to integrate therapeutic strategies into daily routines.
  • Provide staff consultation and training on sensory regulation, fine motor development, adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications.
  • Document therapy sessions, progress notes, and IEP goal data in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and interdisciplinary team discussions.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and positive environment for students with complex behavioral needs.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Occupational Therapist in the State of CA.
  • Experience working with students who have severe behavioral, developmental, or sensory needs preferred.
  • Strong understanding of sensory integration, behavioral supports, and adaptive equipment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Compassionate, patient, and flexible professional approach.
