Description

Position Summary:

Responsible for evaluating patients and developing treatment plans that integrate with the continuum of care.

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluates patients, gathering data from the patient, physician, interdisciplinary team meetings if available, family and significant other persons and data sources.
  • Develops treatment plans which integrate with the continuum of care and identify specific goals and objectives.
  • Possesses knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned caseload.
  • Assesses data reflective of the patient’s status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as delineated in the departmental policies and procedures.
  • Competent in the use, care and maintenance of profession specific equipment, observes safety precautions and provides verbal explanations of the equipment and its purpose.
  • Re-evaluates and modifies treatment plan and goals when appropriate, and prepares written documentation as required by the department, and the care team.
  • Recognizes and communicates when the patient has received optimal benefit from therapy.
  • Ensures accurate billing.
  • Adheres to State Practice Act and Standards of Practice.
  • Understands and respects age group, cultural and religious beliefs of clients, community and staff.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Respects the rights and privacy of others and holds staff member information in strict confidence.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement, program development, student supervision, assigned committees, safety and infection control, as required.
  • Awareness of legal issues, patient rights and compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Attends rehabilitation meetings, in-services, and any patient care meetings that are required for the assignment.
  • Practices efficient use and selection of supplies and equipment.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an approved program in occupational therapy.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) required.
  • Maintains current Occupational Therapist license in the State of Florida-temporary permit acceptable.
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
