Contract Details

  • Position Type: Contract (Travel/Allied)
  • Contract Duration: 3 months
  • Pay Rate: $75.00 / Hour (USD)
  • Shift / Schedule: Day Shift, 5x8 Hours, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
  • Guaranteed Hours: 72 hours per 2 weeks (traveler can be called off for 1 eight-hour shift per 2 weeks)
  • Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Job Summary

This is a travel Allied Health position for an Occupational Therapist serving an outpatient pediatric population in Valdez, AK. The department serves hospital (inpatient and swing bed), LTC, and outpatient settings. The clinician must have the ability to transition between inpatient, outpatient, and LTC as needed to meet facility demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational therapy services primarily to a largely outpatient pediatric population
  • Serve patients across the department's full scope, including hospital inpatient, swing bed, LTC, and outpatient settings
  • Transition between inpatient, outpatient, and LTC settings as facility needs require
  • Apply skills in acute disorder, chronic disorder, and functional activities
  • Administer and interpret standardized assessments and developmental testing/treatment
  • Provide therapy services to patients with mental retardation
  • Apply national patient safety goals and core measures (preferred)
  • Perform billing functions (preferred)
  • Utilize feeding techniques including oral/motor approaches (preferred)
  • Administer disability sequence testing (preferred)

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Onsite position at an acute care/LTC/outpatient facility
  • Day shift, 5x8 hours; on-call is not required
  • Clinician will not be required to float outside of scope
  • Block schedule accommodation available: Yes
  • Local candidates not accepted candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
  • If candidates have worked as permanent staff for any facility affiliated with this assignment, they must be separated for at least 3 months prior to working as a traveler
  • Time off (RTO) approved on an individual basis upon offer

Important Notes

  • Housing: Facility provides housing to travelers during the assignment. Housing units are typically 1-bedroom apartments. Housing will be available for move-in no earlier than 72 hours before the contract begins and no longer than 24 hours after the contract ends. PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED. Housing units are typically large enough to accommodate only the traveler; bringing additional family members is not common and must be approved by the facility. The housing unit must be cleaned upon departure or the traveler will be subject to additional cleaning fees billed to the traveler.
  • Vehicle: The facility will arrange a vehicle for the traveler to use while on assignment. Vehicles are company-owned and shared-use among travelers. The vehicle will be available for use no earlier than 72 hours before the contract begins and no longer than 24 hours after the contract ends. Only the traveler is authorized to operate the vehicle. The traveler must provide a copy of a valid driver's license and proof of insurance prior to operating the vehicle. The traveler's personal vehicle insurance policy must have rental car insurance to cover any accidents/damages to a rental car. Vehicles are provided solely for use around town and must not be taken off-road or outside a 30-mile radius from the facility. If the traveler has time off during the contract, the vehicle must be turned in during time off and a new vehicle will be issued upon return. Tire chains are available at an additional cost billed to the traveler. The vehicle must be cleaned before return and returned with a full tank of gas.
