Occupational Therapist

Job Description

We are seeking a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide school-based occupational therapy services 1–2 days per week to students on Long Island. This is a flexible, part-time opportunity ideal for an Occupational Therapist looking to supplement an existing schedule while working within a supportive school environment.

The Occupational Therapist will provide individualized services to help students improve fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, self-care, and other functional skills that support successful participation in the educational setting.

The Occupational Therapist will collaborate with teachers, school staff, families, and other related service providers to support student progress and ensure consistency across the school environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Provide direct occupational therapy services to school-age students in accordance with students' IEPs
• Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and screenings as assigned
• Address fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, self-care, handwriting, and functional school participation skills
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, families, and other related service providers
• Provide consultation and practical strategies to school staff to support carryover of skills
• Monitor student progress toward IEP goals and objectives
• Complete required documentation, including session notes, progress reports, and evaluations
• Participate in meetings or consultations as appropriate
• Maintain ethical and professional standards in accordance with New York State and AOTA guidelines

Qualifications

• Current New York State Occupational Therapist license required
• Master's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
• School-based or pediatric experience preferred, but not required
• Ability to pass required background checks and school clearances
• Strong communication, organization, and clinical reasoning skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with school personnel and interdisciplinary team members
• Professional, reliable, flexible, and student-focused

Pay: $70–$85 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
