GENERAL SUMMARY
The Occupational Therapist delivers occupational therapy services in accordance with AOTAs standards and policies; the nature and scope of occupational therapy services must be in accordance with laws and regulations. Reports to department leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assures continued competency by establishing, maintaining, and updating professional performance, knowledge, and skills. • Provides direction for certified occupational therapy assistant in a collaborative manner as defined by official AOTA documents and in accordance with laws and regulations. • Maintains current knowledge of legislative, political, social, cultural, and reimbursement issues that affect patients and the practice of occupational therapy. • Systematically assesses the efficiency and effectiveness of occupational therapy services and designs and implements processes to support quality service delivery. • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
• Current state licensure as an occupational therapist. • New graduates must obtain Virginia state licensure within 90 days of employment as an Occupational Therapist.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Knowledge of occupational therapy treatment and modalities. • Knowledge and experience in the administration of a variety of assessment tools, treatment plans and equipment. • Ability to meet on call requirements of department.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. • Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.
