A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

As an Occupational Therapist in senior care, you play an essential role in working with our patients and their families to meet established health goals. The care you provide drastically improves the ability of our patients to perform tasks in living and working environments. Each time you meet a new patient, you conduct a full evaluation to create a plan of care. You take great measures to successfully implement the plans of care while adding appropriate modifications as needed.

While plans of care tend to differ, your treatment techniques involve a variety of training methods for each patient, including help with bed & bathroom mobility, transfer training, balance, gait, activities of daily living (ADL) and Instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) training, as well as strength and range of motion (ROM) exercises. You also act as a supervisor for our occupational therapy assistants and provide guidance to help them implement care. In addition, you complete important patient documentation, such as evaluations, daily notes, progress notes, recertifications, and discharges.

You have no problem completing all your job duties with minimal supervision. A team environment is where you thrive, and you enjoy supporting other coworkers and participating in conferences. The well-being of your patients is always at the forefront of your mind, and you love knowing that your hard work positively impacts their lives in such a big way!
