Description
An Occupational Therapist Supervisor is responsible for assuring the overall provision ofcomprehensive occupational therapy for all eligible clients. The OT supervisor supports thesuccessful integration of treatment services for all clients and all issues related to contractcompliance. The OT supervisor is expected to exercise independent judgement and discretion inthe leadership of the occupational therapy department and demonstrates a commitment toservices and values of the agency. The position reports to the Occupational Therapy Manager.DUTIES1. IMPLEMENTATION: Is responsible for coordinating and implementing OccupationalTherapy treatment services and assures multidisciplinary service in coordination withthe treatment team and outside providers.2. SUPERVISION: Provides direct supervision of staff as assigned. Performs treatmentsession observations/feedback 2 times per year or more for department staff.3. SUPPORT: Provides supportive guidance by way of regular participation in programmeetings (both inter and intra agency) as necessary.4. ACCOUNTABILITY: Monitors staffs time management and accountability of serviceand ensures documentation, reports, etc. are thoroughly and properly completed in atimely manner.5. TRAINING: Educates new staff on the agency's goals and ensures that all staff havethe training to competently perform the duties of their position. Provides education tointerdisciplinary staff on the unique value of occupational therapy within thecompany.6. MEETINGS: Facilitates and/or assists with staff meetings, in service trainings, and newstaff training as scheduled. Represents the agency in community and county meetingsas assigned by OT manager.7. QI: Regularly meets with the Quality Improvement liaison and delegatesresponsibilities for the implementation of necessary program adjustments. Conductsperiodic, regular internal audits of files, ensures service delivery outcomes and qualityof reports.8. COMPLIANCE: Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, contractualrequirements, and ethical standards of the profession.9. ETHICS: Performs all duties within appropriate scope and boundaries and with theapplication of legal and ethical standards.10. EVALUATIONS AND DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS: Demonstrates the ability to fairlyevaluate staff and provide them with the input necessary to improve performance incollaboration with OT Manager. Assures that all disciplinary actions are conductedwith fairness and respect and focused on the improvement of the employee incollaboration with OT Manager.11. EMPLOYEE RELATIONS: Demonstrates respect for the intrinsic value of each person,their individual differences and culture. Is capable of accurately identifying and building on the strengths of employees to better reach their potential. Is approachableand accessible in responding to staff's issues and concerns and provides supportiveconsultation and when needed.12. BACKUP: Is fully acquainted with all the responsibilities of the therapist's duties andprovides urgent, on-call, or back up clinical services as needed.13. DIRECT SERVICES: Provides up to 8 hours per week of direct, billable services to clientsas needed. Initiates and coordinates OT projects for the betterment of the company.14. PETTY CASH: Monitors petty cash budget and materials budget for team.15. STUDENTS: Assists with training and establishing supervision plans and overseeingevaluation of students engaged in fieldwork experiences as needed.16. OTHER: Performs other duties as assigned by the Occupational Therapy Manager. QUALIFICATIONS:1. Bachelor's Degree (graduates of qualified Occupational Therapy program prior to 2004),Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy.2. Successfully completed and graduated from an accredited entry-level occupationaltherapy program recognized by the Accreditation Council for Occupational TherapyEducation.3. Certified by the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy.4. Currently licensed by the California Board of Occupational Therapy.5. Valid California Drivers License, good driving record, and must be able to drive to fulfillthe duties of the position.6. Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience preferred.
