JOB SUMMARY:

The Occupational Therapy Laboratory Associate position is a part-time Administrative Professional position. Provide assistance and support in designing and implementing didactic, community, and simulation labs. Assist with the overall day-to-day operations of the OT learning laboratories. Responsible for managing MSOT student compliance with health record requirements and other annual training requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work in collaboration with OT Lab Coordinator, faculty, and staff to facilitate high standards and success in didactic and community education.
• Provide skilled support to faculty and staff with learning activities both on and off campus as needed.
• Support and collaborate with course faculty in planning and evaluation of student learning.
• Work closely with OT Lab Coordinator, faculty, and AS clinical staff to develop, prepare, set up, execute, and tear down learning laboratory activities and practical examinations.
• Responsible for managing health record requirements for the MSOT Program (i.e. CastleBranch).
• Monitor student compliance
• Communicate with students who are out of compliance
• Communicate with customer service reps for updates, additions, etc.
• Addition of new trackers for each incoming cohort (Fall/Winter admits) of MSOT students.
• Collaborate with OT Lab Coordinator
• Responsible for managing ACEMAPP annual requirements for the MSOT Program (trainings include HIPAA, OSHA, Bloodborne Pathogens)
• Monitor student compliance
• Communicate with students who are out of compliance
• Communicate with customer service reps for updates, additions, etc.
• Addition of new trackers for each incoming cohort (Fall/Winter admits) of MSOT students.
• Collaborate directly with OT Fieldwork Assistant for all fieldwork-related ACEMAPP rotations
• Open communication with AFWC and OT Lab Coordinator for ACEMAPP rotations (both MSOT Program and fieldwork rotation requirements)
• Collaborate with OT Lab Coordinator, faculty, and staff in developing and implementing departmental and interdepartmental simulations.
• Acquire, organize, and maintain all lab equipment and materials utilized both on and off campus.
• Make recommendations for equipment purchases to maintain standards essential for effective instruction.
• Assist as needed with community service events within the OT labs.
• Collaborate with members of the department regarding the overall operation of OT lab activities.
• Responsible for updating the shared Outlook Calendar for all faculty and staff to view real-time availability of all OT lab spaces (BA 103, BA 104, and BA 105).
• Responsible for updating the shared Outlook Calendar, OT Labs, which allows all faculty and staff to view lab/simulation activities in individual OT courses in collaboration with the OT Lab Coordinator.
• Provide a physical and psychological environment consistently conducive to optimum learning in didactic and community labs.
• Engage in continuing education activities as defined in professional development plans filed with ACOTE.
• Attend department and college meetings and take an active role in activities as assigned.
• Participate in MSOT new student orientation and student mentoring program.
• Participate in SVSU student recruitment events in collaboration with OT Department.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in occupational therapy or related field from an accredited program
• Licensed as an occupational therapist (or eligible for licensure as an occupational therapist) in the state of Michigan.
• Certification by NBCOT
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience
• Experience and/or ability to learn computer software programs, assistive technology, and university technology.
• Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software quickly.
• Experience and ability to positively interact with all members of the campus community
• Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodations.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Duties are generally performed inside and not exposed to adverse conditions.
• All work associated with this role must be performed within the state of Michigan
