The Outpatient Therapy Tech functions as an interdisciplinary team member under close supervision of a Physical Therapist, Physical Therapy Assistant, Occupational Therapist or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant performing only delegated, selected, or routine tasks involved in direct patient care. Duties include preparing the patient and the treatment area.  Position also assists Patient Access Representative with front desk registration, phones and other front desk duties. Always works as a team member within the entire facility. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Effectively cleans all treatment equipment.
  • Demonstrates ability to properly operate wheelchairs, walkers, canes, crutches, tables and equipment.
  • Accuracy applies hot packs, cold packs, Electrical stimulator, Ultrasound, and whirlpool treatments.
  • Demonstrates proper usage of weights, Upper extremities and lower extremities, Bike, Treadmill, Total gym equipment and other therapy equipment.
  • Assists with clerical duties including documentation and charges in a thorough, concise, and timely manner as established by policy and procedure.
  • Ability to take direction from others and follow through in an efficient manner.
  • Ability to communicate well with patients, families, occupational/physical therapists, nurses, physicians and other team members, etc.
  • Ability to set priorities.
  • Maintains knowledge of equipment, expected patient outcome, and anticipated complications.
  • Satisfactorily demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties outlined in this job description as well as continually demonstrates competency in performing the job duties.
  • Other duties to include: Laundry, Pool chemical tests, orders clinic supplies, schedule follow up visits, greets new patients, answer telephones.
  • Knowledge of Pool Competency in adjusting/ reading and corrective measures for adjusting pool chemicals.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Experience as a PT or OT Aide or Tech preferred.
  • Must have good communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills and computer skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
  • AHA BLS-HCP within 30 days.

  • Strength (Lift, Carry, Push, Pull): Medium (exerting 11 to 51pounds of force frequently (patient treatments),  10 lbs to 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects or lifting/carrying 2 to 10 pounds constantly
