Job Summary
The Ocean Observing Analyst supports the processing, analysis, quality control and interpretation of oceanographic data collected from observing systems. This position contributes to the development of accurate and reliable data products to support research initiatives and operational needs. The role also collaborated with researchers and external agency partners to ensure data is effectively prepared, analyzed and communicated for scientific and applied use.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Analyze and interpret ocean observing data from High Frequency Radar (HFR), gliders, metrological, and oceanographic buoy systems to support scientific and operational objectives
Process, quality-control and validate observational datasets using established scientific protocols to ensure accuracy and consistency
Develop and deliver data products, summaries, and visualizations that communicate key oceanographic conditions and trends
Collaborate with technical staff to integrate system performance information with data analysis, providing feedback to improve data
Support reporting and data dissemination requirements
Performs other assigned duties
