    PRN Pain Registered Nurse

    Location: OCOM

    Department: Pain

    Schedule: PRN (as needed)

    About the Role

    OCOM is seeking a skilled and compassionate PRN Pain Registered Nurse to support our Pain Center recovery areas. This role plays a critical part in ensuring patient safety, comfort, and education throughout the pre-operative and recovery process. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and is confident in pain management, post-procedural care, and patient education.

    Key Responsibilities

    Pre-Operative & Pain Management Care

    • Prepare patients for procedures in accordance with hospital policies

    • Administer and monitor pain management interventions

    • Demonstrate strong knowledge of medications, including actions, side effects, and expected outcomes

    • Assess patients and ensure admission criteria are met

    • Provide clear education to patients and families regarding procedures and expectations

    • Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the EMR

    • Respond promptly to emergency situations using ACLS/PALS protocols

    • Maintain supplies, medication safety, and equipment readiness

    Qualifications

    Licensure & Certifications

    • Active Oklahoma Registered Nurse (RN) license

    • BLS, ACLS, and PALS required prior to clinical start

    Experience

    • Minimum of 1 year of hospital nursing experience preferred

    • Experience in PACU, Phase II, or pain management strongly preferred

    Skills & Attributes

    • Strong clinical judgment and emergency response skills

    • Proficient in pain management and post-anesthesia recovery care

    • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills

    • Ability to prioritize care in a fast-paced clinical setting

    • Patient-focused with a collaborative team mindset

    Physical & Work Environment

    • Clinical setting with exposure to blood and body fluids

    • Requires standing, walking, lifting, and frequent computer use

    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally

    • Visual and auditory acuity required
