A day in this role
Power up, set, and dial in OD and ID cylindrical grinders (Landis, Studer, Tschudin, Cincinnati, etc.) for tight-tolerance work.
Study complex blueprints, job packets, and GD&T callouts to plan setups, wheel selection, and dressing strategies.
Machine tool steels and heat-treated alloys to exact sizes and surface finish requirements.
Run in-process checks using micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges; verify conformance to strict quality standards.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot machine issues to keep throughput steady.
Maintain an orderly, safe, and clean work area.
What you bring
3+ years independently setting up and operating OD/ID grinders (e.g., Landis, Studer, Tschudin, Cincinnati, etc.).
Proven track record holding very tight tolerances and achieving specified surface finishes.
Deep knowledge of conventional grinding, wheel selection, and dressing techniques.
Advanced blueprint reading capability with strong GD&T fluency.
High school diploma or equivalent; technical/trade schooling is a plus.
