Position Overview
The OEM CTG Pipe Subject Matter Expert (SME) provides technical leadership and specialized expertise in combustion turbine generator (CTG) piping systems for power generation projects. This role supports engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness by serving as the primary technical resource for OEM pipe specifications, installation requirements, quality expectations, and field coordination.
The CTG Pipe SME will work closely with engineering, construction, quality, safety, vendors, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure piping systems are installed, tested, and turned over in accordance with OEM requirements, project specifications, applicable codes, and industry best practices.
District Overview
TIC Power (TICP) is a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation that provides direct-hire construction services for Power Generation utilizing a non-union craft force. Strength in estimating and pre-project planning. Constructing cogeneration, combined-cycle, geothermal and waste-to-energy generation and resource facilities. TIC Power builds major EPC power plant projects throughout North America.

Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical subject matter expert for OEM CTG piping systems, including fuel gas, lube oil, hydraulic oil, cooling water, drains, vents, air, steam, and auxiliary piping systems as applicable.
- Review and interpret OEM drawings, piping isometrics, specifications, manuals, installation procedures, and technical documentation.
- Provide field support during CTG piping installation, fit-up, welding, testing, flushing, preservation, and commissioning activities.
- Support constructability reviews and identify potential installation, access, sequencing, or coordination issues before field execution.
- Coordinate with OEM representatives, engineering, construction teams, subcontractors, and vendors to resolve technical questions and field issues.
- Verify piping installation aligns with OEM requirements, project specifications, applicable codes, and approved drawings.
- Support quality inspection activities, including weld inspections, material verification, bolt-up, pipe supports, cleanliness, hydrostatic or pneumatic testing, flushing, and final system walkdowns.
- Assist with developing and reviewing work packages, installation plans, inspection test plans, turnover packages, and commissioning support documentation.
- Provide guidance on pipe cleanliness, foreign material exclusion, preservation, flushing procedures, and system readiness requirements.
- Identify and document nonconformance issues, field changes, technical deviations, and corrective actions.
- Support system turnover from construction to commissioning, including punch list resolution and documentation review.
- Participate in safety planning, job hazard analysis, lift planning, and work sequencing discussions related to CTG piping installation.
- Communicate technical requirements clearly to craft, supervision, quality personnel, and project leadership.
- Track and escalate technical risks, installation constraints, material concerns, or schedule impacts related to CTG piping scope.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across field execution teams.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in power generation, industrial construction, mechanical piping, or turbine-generator installation.
- Direct experience with combustion turbine generator piping systems strongly preferred.
- Experience working with OEM equipment, technical manuals, installation drawings, and vendor specifications.
- Strong understanding of piping installation, welding, testing, flushing, cleanliness, preservation, and system turnover requirements.
- Knowledge of applicable piping codes and standards, such as ASME, ANSI, API, or project-specific requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret piping isometrics, P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, equipment layouts, and technical specifications.
- Experience supporting combined-cycle, simple-cycle, power plant, oil and gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial projects.
- Familiarity with quality documentation, inspection test plans, nonconformance reporting, and turnover package requirements.
- Strong field problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot installation and coordination issues.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with OEMs, engineering teams, subcontractors, craft supervision, quality, safety, and commissioning teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; experience with project document control systems, construction management software, or quality tracking systems preferred.
- Ability to work in a construction field environment, including walking job sites, climbing stairs/ladders, and working around active construction activities.
- Willingness to travel or relocate to project sites as required.
