Off-Shift Quality Technician

  • Pay Range: $24.04 – $25.48 per hour
  • Reports To: Quality Assurance/Lab Technician Supervisor
  • Schedule: Off-Shift Hours: Sunday: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM  | Monday – Thursday: 9:30 PM – 6:00 AM | 30-minute unpaid lunch
  • Training: 2–3 weeks on 1st shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM) before transitioning to regular schedule.
 
POSITION SUMMARY:
  • We are seeking a detail-oriented Off-Shift Quality Technician to support inspection, testing, and quality verification processes in our manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for ensuring that production materials and incoming products meet established quality standards
  • The position involves a combination of hands-on inspection work and technical analysis. The ideal candidate is physically capable, highly detail-oriented, and comfortable collecting, documenting, and presenting inspection and testing data. This role requires independent work for much of the shift after receiving direction and instruction
  • Following safe work practices at all times is essential
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform first-piece and hourly inspections of production materials (color, size, shape, cosmetics) and document results to ensure compliance with standards
  • Inspect incoming materials and finished products to verify that quality requirements are met
  • Conduct laboratory testing in accordance with ASTM standards; observe, interpret, and document findings
  • Record inspection data accurately in both paper and electronic systems; prepare reports, charts, and graphs as needed
  • Communicate with production employees to ensure understanding of quality expectations
  • Organize and safely store chemicals, materials, equipment, samples, and data
  • Set up and maintain laboratory and inspection equipment
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment at all times
  • Assist with cycle count programs and inventory verification
 
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Proven experience as a Quality Technician, Quality Control Inspector, Lab Technician, or demonstrated ability to grow quickly into the role
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to discern color accurately
  • Ability to use measuring tools and gauges to verify production specifications
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and database systems
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent physical condition and endurance
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate a floor buffer and various power tools used in inspection processes
  • A proactive, "DIY” mindset with the ability to move work forward in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 3+ years of experience in a quality-related role
  • Experience in the plastics manufacturing industry
  • Familiarity with flooring products, installation, maintenance, and composition
  • Degree in Quality, Chemistry, or a related field (strongly preferred)
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical inspection activities for extended periods
  • Excellent physical stamina and endurance
