Duties Description Supervise an Office Assistants 1 (Stores/Mail) and incarcerated individual workers in a storehouse and/or commissary location. You would spend most of your work time performing activities related to storage, stores keeping, inventory control, and/or running commissary operations. Positions of Office Assistant 2 (Stores/Mail) may require the ability to routinely lift and/or carry heavy items and the ability to routinely reach, bend, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
Minimum Qualifications *For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. Minimum Qualifications for taking the Promotional Examination: Must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an office assistant, clerical, or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 6 or higher. Qualifying titles are available at: https://www.cs.ny.gov/examannouncements/announcements/38687titles.cfm Qualifying Experience for Appointment from the Eligible List: After one year of the service described in the Minimum Qualifications. NY HELPS Minimum Qualifications for Non-Competitive Appointment: one year of experience where most work time is spent performing activities related to mail receipt, mail distribution, storage, and/or stores keeping. At a future date, it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in an NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
