The Office Engineer works closely with Field Engineers, PMs, and Accounting to support the office-related functions listed below. Required:
Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (or related) Prior experience in construction, preferably heavy civil
Preconstruction
Set up and manage Project Folders. Coordinate with Preconstruction PM to identify early action tasks and prepare and update workflow tracking logs (submittals, Subcontracts, RFIs). Utilize tracking software. Prepare meeting minutes and assist Preconstruction PM with estimating handoff meetings and monthly follow-ups. Complete early action submittals, permit applications, subcontractor/supplier scope and pricing comparisons, subcontract preparation and approvals, 3rd party utility coordination, etc.
Document Control
Manage Owner Software systems (SharePoint, e-Builder, etc.). Upload/download documents. Maintain project folders and correspondence. Maintain tracking logs, ensure timely responses (RFI's, CO's, submittals, subcontracts, planning) Assist project teams with preparation of general submittals.
Subcontractor Management
Implement tracking systems to monitor insurance certificates, safety documentation, pre-qualification requirements & approvals. Work closely with Field Engineers and Accounting to track subcontractor invoicing, change orders, and compliance documentation. Ensure sub/vendor documentation is in place prior to mobilization and payment (insurance, material certifications, certified payroll, etc.).
Accounting and Cost Control
Review Timecards for daily coding and quantity claiming. Work closely with Field Engineers and Cost Engineer to ensure accuracy of Labor Report. Prepare owner requisitions, track and address payment discrepancies. Work closely with accounting to manage and track subcontractor and major vendor billing. Manage the invoice process to ensure proper routing, timeliness of payment, tax exemption, etc. Manage the purchase requisition process and tracking. Support Cost Engineer to compile change order documentation.
