- Conduct multiple telephonic hearings daily, including taking testimony, making evidentiary rulings, and maintaining judicial temperament and decorum - Review case files and hearing records to prepare for hearings - Ensure proper legal notice is given to parties regarding hearing details and issues - Draft and issue timely final decisions, applying Federal and Arizona law to hearing facts - Respond promptly to work-related communications throughout the workday - Manage a high volume of cases within strict timelines - Write clearly and concisely about complex legal issues - Apply or learn rules of evidence, administrative procedure, legal ethics, and due process - Learn and apply federal and state laws/regulations relevant to administrative programs - Understand and assess human behavior and psychology - Utilize word processing and communications software; learn proprietary applications as needed - Actively listen and synthesize complex information from various sources quickly - Diplomatically manage and minimize conflict between parties during hearings - Preferred: Experience as a hearing officer, law degree, bar membership, Arizona residence - 100% remote position; out-of-state candidates must use their own hardware - Work is Monday Friday during Arizona business hours - Submission of a writing sample with application is required
