Position Title: Office Secretary III (Temporary)

Duration: Approximately 6 weeks, with the option to extend on a weekly basis for up to 6 additional weeks (12 weeks maximum; total hours not to exceed 480 per individual)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (on-site; no telework)
Position Summary
The Office Secretary III is a temporary position that provides administrative, clerical, and customer service support for a veterans cemetery in Cheltenham, Maryland. The position supports daily cemetery operations and serves veterans, their dependents, and the public with accuracy and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare correspondence, reports, forms, and spreadsheets using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
- Maintain and update records, logs, and databases in accordance with program requirements.
- Answer incoming calls, greet visitors, and provide accurate information on cemetery services and procedures.
- Perform data entry, type documents at a minimum of 40 words per minute (WPM), and assist with weekly and monthly reports.
- Sort, process, and distribute daily mail; maintain organized electronic and paper filing systems.
- Operate standard office equipment including copier, fax, scanner, and multiline telephone systems.
- Track supply inventory and report needs to management.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum two (2) years of secretarial or clerical experience.
- Typing speed of at least 40 WPM.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
- Experience operating standard office equipment.
Reporting Structure
The Office Secretary reports to and receives direction from the Cemetery Superintendent or designee. All deliverables are subject to the Superintendent's acceptance and approval.
This is a temporary position pending contract award. BSI (BETA Systems International) will provide a qualified candidate upon award and selection.
