To provide secretarial services to the department including providing main office management (i.e. Greet visitors, manage telephones, scheduling appointments, answering inquiries pertaining to departmental programs.) Assist with student employee hiring process including E-1 processing, Banner verification and WTE processing. Assist in ordering and receiving supplies. Support reconciliation of cash receipts.

Given the nature of the positions in Student & Campus Life that provide support to student services and/or student-centered programs, the employee occupying this position may be required to work during a university closing. There may be occasions where the employee will be asked to work during university closings as directed by his or her supervisor. These instances may include working from a remote location (i.e. telework, etc).

Type of Recruitment Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Strong public relations, reception, and customer service skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and complete tasks efficiently in a high-traffic environment.
  • Solid keyboarding skills and proficiency with standard PC software, specifically Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Accurate data entry in spreadsheet and scheduling and onboarding software

Clerical experience working in a high traffic office environment.

  • Experience working in a higher education, student services, or recreation/social services environment.
  • Prior experience with university-specific systems, including Banner, E-1 processing, and Web Time Entry (WTE).
  • Some college education.

Conditions of Employment

Hourly (wage) employees are restricted to working 29 hours per week on average or 1500 hours in total in the May 1 - April 30 period. This position does not have health insurance, retirement or leave.
