Job Duties
The Washington County Health Department is seeking a detail-oriented and
motivated individual to provide essential program and office support within a
busy public health environment. This role follows established policies and
procedures to carry out a variety of administrative tasks, including scheduling
meetings, performing data entry, processing routine transactions, preparing
correspondence, maintaining records, ordering supplies, and assisting with
general office operations. The successful candidate will help ensure smooth daily
workflow and support the delivery of high-quality services to the community.
As the first point of contact for the program or work unit, the incumbent will
greet visitors and callers, answer questions regarding available services, and
direct inquiries to the appropriate office, division, or resource. This position may
also be responsible for maintaining timesheets and entering employee time and
leave information into the timekeeping and payroll system for the assigned
program area. Strong communication skills, organization, and a commitment to
excellent customer service are essential for success in this role.
The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is dedicated to protecting and promoting

Richmond and 35 local health districts.

Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge of office and administrative principles and practices
• Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software applications
• Ability to interpret and follow established procedures and guidelines
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers, verbally and in writing
• Considerable skill in the operation of standard office equipment
