Lead Teachers are the backbone of the instructional and educational experience of the Waadookodaading academic program, and primarily responsible for the application of skills, knowledge, and a unique Anishinaabe consciousness that supports and extends educational experience for the students of the community.

Qualifications:

  1. Proficient in the Ojibwe language and motivated to advance personal language skills.

  2. Wisconsin DPI certification or willingness to obtain it within one year.

  3. Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills.

  4. Ability to use computers and technology in the classroom setting.

  5. Must be supportive of the mission and philosophy of the Waadookodaading Ojibwe Language Institute.

  6. BA in Education preferred.

  7. Experience teaching Native American youth preferred.

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrate positive teacher-learner interaction, uses instructional time wisely, and provides for and reinforces student-learner involvement.

  2. Use appropriate classroom management strategies.

  3. Participate in staff development, team/staff meetings, extra-curricular activities and parent conferences.

  4. Supervise and monitor students at all times.

  5. Responsible for the components of all core classes.

  6. Evaluate and document student progress on a continuous basis.

  7. Implement research proven practices to improve student achievement.

  8. Plan and prepare instructional materials to support differentiated learning.

  9. Refer students to additional services as needed. 10. Perform other duties as assigned.
